The motorcycle was first registered by Heron Suzuki GB Ltd 01-05-1989 and formed part of the large Team Durex contingent [17 bikes in total] managed by Mick Grant at the 1989 Isle of Man TT event. Team Durex entered two Production Class RR's at the 1989 TT ridden by Phile Mellor (9th) and Jamie Whitham (DNF). Phil was tragically killed during the subsequent Production 1300 event.
RR GR79A-100017 was purchased from Mick Grant, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire in 1992. The bike was initially imported into South Africa and used on a regular basis before arriving in Australia 1997. Following a wheels up restoration, the bike is road registered and used for an occasional weekend ride.
